The foundation of the church dates back to at least the 11th century. Around the year 1100, Ite, the wife of Foulque de Chaudry and daughter of Hermer de Pontoise, donated the church to the Abbey of Saint-Martin de Pontoise, which became the church's patron. The abbey also owned a manor and a monastic barn in Puiseux, though it remains uncertain if it enjoyed all the local tithes. During the French Revolution, the church was closed for worship and abandoned, only to be resurrected in the late 19th century through the Thomassin family's generosity.
Between 1895 and 1897, the church underwent significant restoration, with the original nave replaced by a new neo-Gothic structure designed by Parisian architect Charles Ferrant. The new construction, while less ambitious than the 13th-century project, catered to the small village's needs. The high roof of the new nave unfortunately obscures part of the bell tower's belfry stage, but the interior remains more harmonious and impressive.

The entire church is vaulted with ribs, though the vaults of the nave and its side aisles and chapels are made of hollow bricks and prefabricated ribs.

The narthex, nave, and side aisles are covered by a single gabled roof, with the chapels flanking the third bay of the nave featuring hip roofs.
