The château's fortunes changed with the French Revolution. During the Chouannerie, it served as a headquarters for royalist forces, and in 1800, part of the château was set ablaze by republican troops. However, the 19th century brought revival. Jean Sigismond Ehrenreich de Redern Bernsdorf acquired the property, restoring the château and opening its park to the public. Antoine Schnetz, who later became mayor of Flers, further modernized the estate, ensuring its place as a beloved local landmark.

A Municipal Jewel

In 1901, the château became the property of the town of Flers, housing the town hall and a museum. Despite the ravages of World War II, the château remained unscathed, continuing to serve as a cultural hub.
