Santa Sofia, known locally as Chiesa di Santa Sofia, stands as the principal church of Giugliano in Campania, a charming town located northwest of Naples. The reliefs above depict the four Evangelists, adding to the chapel's spiritual and artistic significance. In 1639, Dr. Orazio de Blasio donated 204 ducats for the chapel's decoration, expressing his wish to be buried before the altar of Saint Julianus.

The Neapolitan painter Pacecco de Rosa created five paintings for the chapel, depicting scenes such as the Martyrdom of Saint Sophia, the Martyrdom of Saint Julianus, Saint Giuliana in Prison, Saint Deodato Abbot, and Saint Romito Deacon. These artworks were stolen in a daring art heist on November 11, 1998. However, in 2015, two of these paintings were recovered from a collector in Recanati, thanks to the efforts of Pro Loco Giuliano, who had published a catalog documenting 30 years of art thefts in Giugliano. The recovered paintings were ceremoniously returned to the church during the celebrations in honor of Saint Julianus on January 27, 2016.
