The 1920s and 1930s marked a time of significant activity for the Posthuis, hosting not only theatrical performances but also important and well-attended meetings, such as the discussions that led to the formation of the new municipality of Heerenveen from the three former municipalities of Aengwirden, Schoterland, and Haskerland.
In 1966, the Posthuis was acquired by the municipality of Heerenveen and repurposed as a community center. The Posthuis Theater was officially reopened on October 1, 1983, by Hans Wiegel, the then Commissioner of the King of Friesland. A new theater hall was added, bringing the total seating capacity to nearly 400. A towering stage tower was also erected at the back of the building.
